Chiew plays many roles in our water business sector. As a principal process engineer, he specialises in the design of wastewater treatment and water recycling facilities. He also acts as a design manager, overseeing the delivery of treatment plant projects—generally from design and construction to the commissioning of assets.
As a specialist in water recycling, Chiew has led and contributed to some of the major water recycling projects in the Asia-Pacific region. These include Singapore’s NEWater project, Shell Geelong’s petroleum refinery wastewater recycling projects, and Googong’s integrated water cycle system. A number of these projects have been considered industry best practices in Australia. He’s inspiring the next generation of treatment professionals as a professor of advanced wastewater engineering at the University of Sydney.
If you catch Chiew outside of work, he might be spending his free time playing basketball or soccer.
