St Catherine's College - UWA - Additional Student Housing

St Catherine's College is a leading independent college at the University of Western Australia and was looking to offer residential accommodation to students. Built in five interconnected three and four storey buildings with roof garden facilities on two, the development would feature 250 rooms each with an en suite and kitchenette.

We were engaged by Pindan to provide an integrated design for the housing’s hydraulic services. Our design featured an innovative warm water solution that eliminated the need for individual tempering valves in each room, significantly reducing maintenance costs. We also provided detailed design of the sanitary waster system, the wet fire services system, and stormwater drainage. A coordinated early works package allowed the builder to get out of the ground while detailed design of the upper floors was being finalised. We issued documentation for the construction package of in-ground work, allowing coordinated services to proceed without hold up.

The completed project offers the community and students safe and healthy buildings to live in, now and in the future. We were able to meet our client’s requirements and reduce overall maintenance costs for water usage.
