Support Facility for Global Climate Change Alliance+ (GCCA+)

Developing countries—and in particular, least developed countries (LDCs) and small island developing states (SIDS)—are communities with the most vulnerabilities to climate change effects. They have the fewest resources to prepare for these changes, and without timely actions, climate change will further affect the development of these nations.

In 2007, the EU launched the Global Climate Change Alliance (GCCA). Their goal? To foster effective dialogue and cooperation on climate change. They help developing countries (LDCs and SIDS in particular) increase their capacities to adapt to the effects of climate change. Today, the GCCA+ (the second phase and successor to the GCCA) supports more than 50 programs in 43 countries and eight regions and sub regions.

As consultants in the GCCA+ and managers of their support facility, we help create a platform for dialogue and cooperation with regional conferences and global events discussing climate change, and we prepare and review technical papers, background documents, training materials, and financial support through country or regional programs.

With help from the GCCA+, developing countries are reducing poverty, adapting to climate change, and reducing disaster risk.
