Edmonton Crosswalk Mural

Our Developing Professionals Group and Employee Resource Groups create artwork in downtown Edmonton for Âé¶¹´«Ã½ in the Community Week

On June 20th, 2022 members of Edmonton¡¯s Developing Professionals Group, and various Employee Resource Groups (ERG) joined employee volunteers to paint a crosswalk mural outside of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Tower. This mural represents every Âé¶¹´«Ã½ ERG was painted at the start of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ in the Community Week as part of a ¡®downtown beautification¡¯ project.

This is the first crosswalk mural that will be painted by an organization outside of the City of Edmonton.?

From left to right the artwork reflects the ERGs as follows:

  • Persons with disabilities ERG: Addition symbols represent inclusion, various colors represent the various disabilities making up this ERG
  • Pride @ Âé¶¹´«Ã½: Pride flag
  • Asians @ Âé¶¹´«Ã½: Mandala
  • Latinos in Âé¶¹´«Ã½: Latino textile
  • Women @ Âé¶¹´«Ã½: Female silhoutte
  • BLK_ERG: Various shades of brown and black (this is taken from the BLK_ERG¡¯s banner logo)
  • Indigenous Connections: This represents Treaty 6, which was created to last ¡°as long as the sun shines, the grass grows and the river flows¡±
  • Military and Veteran Advocates: Camo pattern

For Âé¶¹´«Ã½ in the Community Week, our local Developing Professionals Group, and Employee Resources groups contributed to the beautification of downtown Edmonton, sharing a mural reflective of Âé¶¹´«Ã½'s inclusive and diverse culture.
