ISSUE 19: DECARBONIZATION
Targeting emissions in the built environment

Buzzwords aren¡¯t always bad. Where we once talked about promoting sustainability, the conversation has shifted to decarbonization in building design. Sustainability suggested maintenance of a status quo that didn¡¯t require much effort. Building decarbonization suggests action is necessary to get something out of the system. Carbon dioxide to be precise.

In this issue, we look at designing for the new Passive House standards in Massachusetts, writing better decarbonization RFPs, and building better electric battery factories. We explain Life Cycle Analysis. Plus, we share the alternative materials we¡¯re curious about and talk about ways to reduce the carbon embodied in new buildings.

We're considering the drivers to decarbonize our buildings and how we can help our clients get it done.
