Dave Dargie writes in Airport World magazine about airport master plans for Cayman Islands Airport Authority
Passenger traffic at the three major airports across the Cayman Islands¡ªOwen Roberts International Airport on Grand Cayman, Charles Kirkconnell International Airport on Cayman Brac, and Edward Bodden Airfield on Little Cayman¡ªhas grown in recent years. This surge of passengers has put stress on airport systems and infrastructure. As a result, the Cayman Islands Airport Authority (CIAA) is exploring developing airport master plans for each airport. The goal is to provide a clear and strategic infrastructure development plan.
Stantec and its project partners¡ªChalmers Gibbs, BCQS, DKMA, KPMG, and Munich International¡ªdeveloped a 20-year growth plan for the Cayman Islands¡¯ airports. Their recommendations aim to guide the CIAA through the development of its land-use plans for each airport. It will also support the needed infrastructure to accommodate current and future aviation and passenger demands. There was a special focus on sustainability and preserving as much of the natural flora and fauna at and around the three airports.?
