Coastal & Marine Disaster Planning & Recovery
Weathering the storms
Our teams help coastal communities effectively prepare for and respond to potential natural disasters. They lead building performance assessments following coastal flooding and wind events, and they develop recommendations alongside federal, state, local, academic, and industry partners to inform resilient actions for coastal communities.
Working continuously with building code, standards, and floodplain ordinance development groups, we help advance wind, flood, and seismic-resistant construction techniques.
We offer curriculum development, capacity building, and structural assessment and design, and we deliver expert training to engineers, architects, floodplain managers, and other building stakeholders. Our team engages in the development of robust building construction standards, assists with the adoption of the latest hazard-resistant building codes and floodplain ordinances, and enhances the capabilities of design professionals and building departments, collectively keeping coastal communities in mind.
