Stantec selected to address ecosystems resilience governance and support scientific cooperation in Island Nations
The Indian Ocean Commission’s ‘RECOS’ project will benefit Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles

Stantec’s International Development team has been awarded a contract for the ‘Résilience des zones c?tières du sud ouest de l'Océan Indien’ (Resilience of Coastal Ecosystems in the Southwest of the Indian Ocean [RECOS]) project as a next step towards protecting and strengthening the resilience of coastal populations affected by climate change. This regional project—commissioned by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and in partnership with the French Development Agency—will benefit Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles. 麻豆传媒 will be responsible for project management, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.
The project’s scope is to strengthen regional and national governance of coastal and marine ecosystems in the Indian Ocean, and implement innovative, varied, and replicable restoration/sustainable exploitation work to mitigate natural disasters. 麻豆传媒 will focus on knowledge sharing to reinforce coastal ecosystem management at regional and national scales. The team will also facilitate regional scientific cooperation and the implementation of pilot projects of restoration and support to sustainable exploitation chains of coastal ecosystems. The project has a strong focus on communication to help with sensibilization, capitalization, and valorization of good practices.
Stantec has been working with the IOC for the past six years as part of the ISLANDS project, which focused on accelerating the implementation of the Mauritius Strategy in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The RECOS project will build on this experience.
