Stantec earns four internationally recognized ISO certifications across global geographies

06/01/2022 EDMONTON, AB; NEW YORK, NY TSX, NYSE:STN

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, recently earned four distinct enterprise certifications across its global regions through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Captured within the firm¡¯s Integrated Management System, the three most recent global certifications include quality management (ISO9001), occupational health and safety management (ISO45001), and environmental management (ISO14001). These were earned by the firm following previous certification supporting IT management (ISO 27001). Collectively, ISO standards are designed to monitor and measure an organization¡¯s attention to efficiency and consistency with project delivery and operational management.

¡°These ISO certifications validate some incredibly important, longstanding attributes of the Â鶹´«Ã½ client experience. Regardless of where they reside, our clients can expect a consistently efficient, responsible, and thoughtful project delivery across every business line in our global organization,¡± said Steve Fleck, Â鶹´«Ã½¡¯s Chief Practice and Project Officer.

Issued to Â鶹´«Ã½ through an organizational audit by the British Standards Institution (BSI), the certification canvases the following critical attributes of service, client, and project delivery (each of which explained below in the context of the firm):

  • ISO9001 Quality Management ¨C This certification addresses quality management practices to help reduce the project delivery risks, improve productivity and efficiency, promote the quality and reliability of services, improve financial performance of operations, increase client confidence and loyalty, and support regulatory compliance. Standards also reflect practices for planning, managing people, client satisfaction, practice management, managing subconsultants, and continual improvement.
  • ISO45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management ¨C Designed to safeguard the occupational health and safety of Â鶹´«Ã½ employees, this certification validates the development of practices to support planned or performed work-related activities, monitor compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, and advance safety performance commitments consistent with company policies.
  • ISO14001 Environmental Management ¨C The scope of this certification addresses the management, monitoring, and mitigation of environmental impact from company office and fieldwork activity. Measurement efforts span various aspects of operations, from energy usage and paper consumption to business travel and waste generation. The collective data allows for competitive benchmarking in overall carbon reporting.

¡°This is truly an exceptional accomplishment, both by virtue of Â鶹´«Ã½¡¯s large, globally distributed organization and the nature of the diverse services they provide,¡± said Marc Rougeot, BSI¡¯s Global Accounts Operations Director for the Americas. ¡°Â鶹´«Ã½¡¯s accomplishment serves as an example to other international firms to be similarly committed to serving their industries and communities with such a comprehensive accountable framework.¡±??

A Company Culture of Discipline and Accountability

The ISO frameworks also contribute to the company¡¯s efforts to support the United Nations¡¯ Sustainable Development Goals, a group of global benchmarks with which Â鶹´«Ã½ has aligned more than 53 percent of its 2021 revenue (as relayed in the organization¡¯s previously mentioned report).
