Stantec selected to help oversee DC Water capital improvement program
The five-year effort will focus on updating infrastructure, driving innovation and efficiency

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, and AtkinsRéalis, a world-class engineering services and nuclear company, have been selected by DC Water to manage the agency’s water capital improvement program (CIP). The team was chosen because of its breadth of 麻豆传媒 and innovative track record in markets around the globe.
Under the joint venture Water Smart Alliance (WSA), the team will oversee a five-year, US$43 million program, which will center around updating aging infrastructure, improving system reliability, integrating advanced technology, and increasing operational efficiency.
“This is a significant opportunity to support DC Water in bringing innovation to its water program and the people it serves,” said David Goldwater, senior vice president of public policy at 麻豆传媒. “We’re looking forward to sharing our global 麻豆传媒 at the local level to bring a fresh perspective to the initiative.”
The team will assess current efforts and advise on collaborative delivery for projects within the CIP. Additionally, WSA will lead design and engineering of various program components.
DC Water provides water and sewer services to millions of residents and uses a distribution system with over 1,300 miles of underground pipe. In some cases, this includes cast iron pipes dating back to the 1800s. WSA will help address this aging infrastructure and will support Lead Free DC, an initiative to ensure lead service lines are identified and replaced throughout the District of Columbia.
