As director of our national Landscape Planning and Design team, Matthew is experienced in undertaking feasibility studies and townscape, landscape, and visual impact assessments. He prepares landscape strategies and detailed landscape designs for a wide variety of proposals. He also frequently serves as an expert witness and has appeared at inquiries.
One such project was Reading Station for which he appeared as expert witness for several tall buildings on behalf of the client Aviva. He has also recently appeared on behalf of Harrow Estates for a scheme of 1,400 homes located within the Green Belt and setting of the Chilterns Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) at Tring, Dacorum. He also been successful at two recent test cases, one in Little Chalfont (Green Belt) and a site in Hawkhurst successfully getting development approved for the first time in 24 years within the High Weald AONB in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys travelling abroad, skiing, golfing, visiting restaurants, and spending time by the beach in Turkey with his family.
