When you are in traffic, you only see the taillights of the vehicle in front of you. David sees traffic in multiple dimensions, including time, all revealed in datasets. David has a passion for data with a particular focus on how data can be used to make better decisions and provide new services. Working within the transportation sector, he has worked on multiple strategic modelling projects and has also developed transport forecasts based on multiple datasets.
He has a background in mathematics and has used this to provide new ways of looking at data and extracting insights that can be used to enhance projects.
His current work focuses on how we can use existing data sets to forecast future transport offerings and how we can achieve the sustainable transport future that we need to deliver. This includes the development of a scenario forecasting tool for the Gravity development project in the UK which won the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation’s South West innovation award in 2022.
