Ian has always enjoyed building and understanding how things work. As a freshman in college, he helped a friend and his uncle build a new residential house. Working with the structural drawings and framing the house set Ian on the path toward structural engineering.
As a structural engineer, Ian is responsible for structural investigations, analyses, designs, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration for buildings and special projects. Among these special projects, he’s found historic renovations to be the most rewarding in being able to learn from predecessors by preserving and enhancing their craftsmanship. He’s also worked on the restoration of oceanfront high-rise structures, concrete repair, and marine structures.
When he isn’t helping to inspect or design new structures, Ian enjoys spending time outdoors with my family, especially on their boat.
