Thomas Hammerberg

Landscape Architect

Photo of Thomas

After 35 years of experience in this industry, Thomas excels at detailing and figuring out the intricacies of landscape design. He oversees his office’s design efforts, manages a number of projects, and checks technical specifications and drawings—he’s the coach that supports the landscape architect team.

One of his favorite projects was his work on Villano Park and Rochford Field. Thomas was lead designer and project manager for the 10-year effort, and he managed a very talented team of designers through a collaborative creative experience. As a result of the back and forth design, the new park has a vibrancy and cheerful feel—something that comes from varied voices having equal say.

For Thomas, the most rewarding part of landscape architecture is seeing adults, teenagers, and children, using and playing at the new schools, parks, or recreation facilities. He’s an at-large board member for the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and he serves on the Hamden BOE Building Committee. In his free time, he and his wife hike the back-country trails of Sleeping Giant State Park, backpack on the Appalachian Trail, and cycle on the Farmington Canal Trail.
