Mike believes that understanding all project aspects including clients’ goals, scope, budget, and other disciplines’ work, and seeing his efforts in the context of the whole project, makes him a better electrical engineer.
With this philosophy, he has designed electrical, lighting, telecommunications, and ITS systems for highways, streetscapes, urban site developments, bridges, parking facilities, multiple types of buildings, and parks—where creativity is required to deal with the relationship between trees and lighting. He is certified by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions.
Among his most rewarding projects is the Route 9A Promenade Design. The project involved the reconstruction of the West Side Highway in Manhattan, after September 11th?and included the frontage of the World Trade Center Site. The careful and thoughtful interplay of streetscape, landscape, and lighting has been a major element in the effort to rebuild after that devastating event.?
