Jon Noad

Senior Paleontologist

Photo of Jon

A geologist and paleontologist with a flexible, team player driven approach, Jon has worked on many diverse projects throughout his more than 20 years in the oil and gas, mining, and marine geology industries. His work has taken him across five continents including work in Western Canada, Iran, Libya, Gabon, the North Sea, Malaysia, and South Africa.

Jon’s diverse geological work experience pairs well with his strong technical background supported by a master’s and doctorate in sedimentology and paleontology. An accomplished communicator, he teaches multiple courses in paleontology, sedimentology, and petroleum geology at the university level. He’s also written a series of papers on invertebrates and microfossils.

Working outside is one of Jon’s favorite parts of the job. Another is gathering and interpreting data like a sedimentary detective, which came in handy during permitted research in Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta.

When he isn’t preserving geological heritage for the public to enjoy and contributing to scientific learning, Jon loves running and swimming outdoors. He also leads geological field trips and searches out new dinosaur stamps to add to his already sizable collection.
