With 40 years in the building industry and 25 years as a registered architect, Joel has spent the nearly two decades as an International Code Council (ICC) certified commercial plans examiner. For him, it’s all about the safety of our communities and the buildings we use. He knows that each building is unique—each plan reviewed or inspected requires substantial architectural knowledge of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
In his position, Joel reviews building plans and does inspections for the City of Tucson to make sure they comply with codes that preserve design integrity. Over the past decade, he’s handled many downtown permits and code checks. Notable projects include The Flin, The Citizen Hotel, and the Playground Bar & Lounge.
When it comes to building permits, Joel has a particular skill for making sure city codes are met, including the International Building Code (IBC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), and the National Electrical Code. Joel works diligently to meet review timelines and expedite the building permit process, helping projects move smoothly and be completed on time.
