Motivated by positive outcomes, Josefien envisions a better future for all. Whether her focus is stormwater or wastewater, she believes in making the most of our interactions with the environment, communities, and our clients. As a graduate, she constantly strives for growth. Through a variety of projects, she’s been able to follow her passions, like sustainable and ecologically-integrated design, and discover her strengths, like erosion sediment control plans—an essential element of the consenting process.
Josefien appreciates the unseen heroism of three waters engineering. Though never glamourous and often invisible, work with drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater is vital for the day-to-day health and safety of communities. Her secondment to Waimakariri District Council as a key member of the Flood Investigation team was especially rewarding. It’s the positive impact on people’s wellbeing that she’s most proud of—the local community was hit hard by flooding, so the team investigated the causes and developed unique solutions.
With no shortage of energy, Josefien loves going for a hike or a bike ride on the weekend, often followed by a coffee or pastry date with friends.
