Chatswood Education Centre

As its student population increased, the Chatswood Education Precinct in New South Wales needed to refurbish its existing school and construct a new building. A master plan was developed to deliver the necessary teaching and outdoor space without compromising educational outcomes or existing school operations.

Stantec delivered the schematic design and design development stages, which included structural, civil, and hydraulic engineering services. Our design retains the existing Pacific Highway site for Chatswood Primary School and places the Chatswood High School on a Centennial Avenue site. This plan keeps primary students together while removing a split in high school years, placing high school students in one building. We increased the amount of active play space for both schools and introduced dedicated performing arts spaces at the high school. In collaboration with stakeholders, we ensured all requirements were met to retain the aesthetic design of the heritage listed building.?

Once this project is complete, Chatswood Precinct will benefit from new and improved education facilities to support the student experience. Our contribution to this project helps to shape the expanding community for the better.
