Frankland Park Development
Proactively responding to population growth, the City of Cockburn planned to develop a new sports and recreation centre at Frankland Park in Perth¡¯s Hammond Park suburb. The bushland site was historically used for the disposal of organic abattoir waste until 1980.
Our hydraulics consultants contributed to the early stages of concept design, generating an initial brief on par with schematic design standards and developing the design to tender. We considered the requirements of the new centre which features two AFL ovals and 1,000 square metres of multi-purpose community sporting facilities, a commercial kitchen, parking, sports lighting, and retaining walls. We assessed the realistic requirements for both domestic hot- and cold-water supply, sewage needs, and gas provision to offer the most effective solutions. Our design also included considerations for operation and maintenance, offering solutions that would endure over time.
Engaging early with our team resulted in greater accuracy around projected water needs, offered mitigation strategies to limit use, and anticipated questions around the potential for contamination. Our proactive approach created positive relationships within the design team and led to favourable feedback from regulatory bodies and authorities.?
