Landside Transport Access Strategy (LTAS) for Port of Melbourne
Viziers, visionaries, oracles? Predicting the future is, in fact, part of our job¡ªbut instead of tealeaves, or crystal balls, we rely on data and predictive models to help clients, such as the Port of Melbourne, create strategic plans for future growth. The Port is one of Australia¡¯s most important infrastructure assets contributing $6 billion to the Victorian economy annually.
As the state¡¯s population continues to grow, the Port saw a need to continue improving transport infrastructure to satisfy increasing demand. How? By creating a new strategy for landside transport access to manage the movement of goods to and from the port by road and rail. We were asked to provide advisory services on a new 30-year strategy document by looking into the future and translating trade demands to future traffic flows. We also identified a staged-set of infrastructure upgrades to accommodate demand over time.
The final, five-part, Landside Transport Access Strategy will help the Port maintain, and enhance, its competitiveness out to the year 2050, with a goal to build economic growth and opportunity all along the supply chains into and out of Australia.??
