Nauru Port Development

As one of the smallest island nations in the Pacific, Nauru relies heavily on imports of food, goods, and fuel. Cargo is currently ferried from barges moored offshore, a process vulnerable to delays caused by changing weather and sea conditions. Funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Government of Nauru engaged us to create an efficient, reliable, and climate-resilient port for the nation.

Our team provided detailed design and documentation for the development of a new deep-water port with a wharf, revetment (erosion fortification), container terminal, fuel pipelines, fire systems, utility design, port buildings, and security. We based our designs around extensive analyses of wave and climate conditions, ship bridge simulations to determine berthing configurations, mooring analysis, geotechnical investigations, and environmental studies.

Following design and documentation, the Government of Nauru retained our services for overseeing the tender and award phase and then to provide construction supervision services including overseeing demolition of existing facilities.
