Centrepoint

At the epicenter of the renewal on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Centrepoint is a five-story mixed-use podium with a 13-story tower¡ªa symbol of a community dedicated to revitalizing their downtown. Centrepoint plays host to two restaurants, a 156 room boutique hotel, office space, and a storefront for emerging local artists.

The prairie landscape was instrumental in the design, with open and flat lands inspiring the overall visibility of the building. The historic Mitchell-Copp building fa?ade was retained, refurbished, and restored, becoming the building¡¯s entrance and featuring glass windows that open up the space. Glass continues to cover the rest of Centrepoint, which with its weightless design adds a new dimension to Winnipeg¡¯s downtown.

Viewers from outside can see the activity inside the offices, and the vista from inside provides full panoramic views of Winnipeg. Tied into the Sports, Hospitality, and Entertainment District (SHED), this building has created a new level of activity on Portage Avenue and has set the stage to bring downtown into a new era.

The building was designed to high environmental standards, accommodating the health and wellness of staff, visitors, and tenants. Sustainable features include interior light wells to maximize daylight, low-energy lighting, low consumption plumbing fixtures, energy-efficient heat pumps, recycled and low volatile organic compounds materials, and green building material
