C?te Saint-Charles Ecological Study

In an effort to protect the natural environments in its geographic area, the City of Saint-Lazare hired us to complete a biological characterization of 142 hectares (351 acres) of natural environments in the C?te Saint-Charles district.

The terrestrial and wetland environments, as well as waterways, were counted, mapped, and demarcated to determine their respective surface areas and the plant communities comprising them. The team inventoried threatened and vulnerable plant species¡ªthose vulnerable to picking or species likely to be so designated¡ªas well as exotic invasive plant species. In all, 35 wetlands and 20 woodland plant communities were described. Wildlife inventories were also completed to document use of the site by herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians), chiroptera (bats), and avifauna (birds).

The study report was submitted to the RCM of Vaudreuil-Soulanges to inform the design of its regional plan for wetlands and waterways (PRMHH).
