Emerald Ridge Elementary School K-8

Located in White City, Saskatchewan, Emerald Ridge Elementary School had a goal to be at the forefront of 21st-century education design. They also desired to embody the vision of the Prairie Valley School Division by promoting ¡°leadership in learning and life¡±. To aid them in their mission, we provided architecture, planning, and design services for White City's Emerald Ridge Elementary School K-8 project.

Part of the Prairie Valley School Division (PVSD), the new school is designed to accommodate the growing student enrolment in the White City area. Located in the new subdivision of Bowers West (Phase 3), our design responds to the residential community by establishing a park-like setting around the school to relate to the prairie context.

The program, though formally dictated by the Ministry of Education's 2006 School Facility Funding Guidelines, was left up to our design team to interpret and re-imagine. The result? A design that focuses on multi-purpose, flexible spaces to accommodate several learning and teaching styles. The complex also features a childcare centre large enough for 50 kids, and a facilities maintenance shop to serve the greater school division from a central location.

Our design incorporates modern standards of sustainability, and highlights multiple green technologies as teaching tools throughout the building.
