EuroAsia Interconnector HVDC Project

The European Union has a goal of having all member states electrically interconnected¡ªthe EuroAsia Interconnector will support just that. Upon completion, the electrical systems of Greece, Cyprus and Israel will be linked with over 2,400 kilometres of submarine cables and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Voltage Sourced Converter (VSC) stations at each connection point. This project includes many firsts, including cable installation in water depths of up to 3,000 metres and a multi-terminal HVDC scheme connecting the electrical networks of three countries.

Our team has been retained to provide specialist HVDC consulting engineering services, including performing detailed analytical studies, refining the HVDC system configuration, as well as developing technical specifications for the HVDC converter stations, cables and sea electrodes. During the later stages of the project, we will also provide tender evaluation and contract negotiation support, as well as post-award support for the HVDC converter stations.

The EuroAsia Interconnector is a leading European Union project of common interest (PCI). Upon completion, this project will help the EU achieve their energy policy and climate objectives: affordable, secure and sustainable energy for all citizens, and the long-term decarbonization of the economy in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
