New Interchange on Highway 401 at Wonderland Road
With a growing number of cars on the road, the City of London needed a new interchange on Highway 401 to ease the flow of traffic. This new interchange improves access into the City and supports long-term economic growth and development of the area.
Our design team worked with Aecon on this design-build to secure environmental approvals and develop a safe, efficient traffic management and construction staging strategy. Local road traffic was detoured to facilitate construction of the new ramp terminals and approaches, while Highway 401 traffic impacts were minimized by maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction with a median cross-over. Our team of environmental planners and specialists spanned the project, doing everything from initial field work during the design phase to compliance monitoring during construction. To top it off, we created an environmental management plan and facilitated a public information center.
We worked with the Ministry of Transportation and the City of London to design and build an interchange that would provide a vital link to the Highway 401 corridor, as well as provide a vital link along Wonderland Road to support the commercial and residential growth in Southwest London.
