Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Project
Prince Rupert Gas Transmission set out to construct and operate a 900 kilometre natural gas pipeline from the Hudson's Hope area in northeastern British Columbia (BC) to the Pacific NorthWest LNG facility near Prince Rupert, BC. Our contribution was top-drawer environmental assessment and permitting services to help the client obtain an Environmental Assessment Certificate and other environmental permits.?
Working with an aggressive timeline, our team provided strategic advice to identify risks and develop strategies that would keep the project on track. We helped the client develop and foster relationships with 19 Aboriginal groups who live in the traditional territory that the project intersects with and were able to adapt quickly to any necessary route changes. Our environmental assessment included air quality, acoustic environment, water quality, freshwater aquatics, marine, vegetation and wetlands, wildlife, heritage and archaeology, greenhouse gases, visual quality, socio-economics, and First Nations. Supporting studies also included hydrogeology and terrain assessments.
The outcome? We prepared one of the largest environmental assessments in British Columbia, on a record timeframe from start of the project to EAC decision in 20 months.?
