Vehicle Screening Facility - Perimeter Protection & Vehicle Barrier
Constructed in 1859, Parliament Hill is home to the Government of Canada and hosts millions of visitors each year. While security measures generally form core features of building projects, safety on The Hill is paramount. So, our team of physical security specialists was brought on to offer protection assistance by developing the Vehicle Screening Facility (VSF), Perimeter Protection, and Vehicle Barrier.
In association with Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), we provided engineering and consulting services to ensure the safety of everyone on site. We had to design and implement security measures such as vehicle control barriers, bollards, cameras, and intercoms at all vehicle and pedestrian entry points. But, we also had to respect the Hill¡¯s heritage and maintain a public atmosphere.
We analyzed necessary project requirements, design concepts, stakeholder goals, and security specifications to mitigate risk on the Hill. And through ongoing collaboration and a sequential approach, our team successfully met all stakeholder objectives and helped throughout the entire project lifecycle. These security enhancements effectively promote safety at the historic Canadian site.?
