Climate Conservation Program
Energy poverty is an increasing problem in Europe. Energy-poor households in the Netherlands spend on average 13-20% of their income on energy, compared to a 5% average for other households. For housing corporation ZOwonen, with properties in the province of Limburg, energy poor households account for a significant percentage of all their properties. The organization came to our team for help—they wanted to do something different to bring together people around the topic of energy reduction.
Our energy specialists, with the support of the municipality of Beek, created a special program called ZObewust to make residents aware of things they can do to save energy. Our Energy Transition team connected directly with residents of homes from ZOwonen to work on awareness and behavioral change, explaining the effect of lowering the room temperature and how to lower standby consumption. Following that, an energy coach visited residents to create a list of measures to be taken to make their home more energy efficient. Our team then applied the measures, free of charge for the residents.
With an increased awareness around the topic of energy consumption, our program will have a direct and long-lasting energy-saving impact on the homes in Beek.?
