Firth of Forth Wind Farm

The UK has aimed to deliver 40 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030. As part of that ambition, the Seagreen offshore wind farm project is being developed in two phases in the Firth of Forth Development Zone of North Sea, Scotland, UK.

We were commissioned to undertake detailed flood risk assessment and geotechnical investigative work to support Seagreen Wind Energy Limited¡¯s planning application for an offshore windfarm near the Firth of Forth, with associated onshore infrastructure near to Dundee, in Angus. The onshore components of the proposed development included an extension and upgrade to an existing substation located to the southeast of Tealing as well as a new underground cable route, which will connect the substation to the offshore windfarm at the coast near to Carnoustie.

The wind farm is expected to be complete in 2024, and once completed, it will become the biggest wind farm in Scotland and will produce sufficient energy to power approximately one million Scottish households¡ªa major step towards meeting Scotland and the UK¡¯s net zero emissions targets.
