Amgen Compound Sample Bank and Robotic Storage/Retrieval Installation

As an empirical exercise, science is based on what was known previously. So, it¡¯s critical for research¡ªsuch as for pharmaceuticals¡ªto keep records and samples of the countless compounds that are developed for possible therapeutic use. When our client needed to expand their storage facility for chemical compounds, we provided design and build services to house one of the world¡¯s largest sample bank storage facilities. To enhance efficiency, the facility would use robotic storage and retrieval of the chemical compounds.

The project included developing support spaces such as a plate replication area, chemical fume hood area, freezer rooms, powder weighing stations, automated DMSO delivery and waste systems, and storage rooms. Mezzanines in selected areas within the existing high-bay structure were constructed to accommodate office, general storage, and mechanical room spaces.

With easier and faster access to previously developed compounds, pharmaceutical researchers can pursue their research and advance the development of drugs more quickly.

Services for this project were completed by the employees of GL Planning & Design prior to their employment at Â鶹´«Ã½.
