BETA Technologies Aircraft Fabrication Plant

BETA Technologies is creating electric transportation that¡¯s safe, reliable, and sustainable. Their in-production aircraft is called the Alia¡ªthe world¡¯s most technologically advanced electric vertical aircraft (EVA) and the first of its kind to operate with zero operational emissions. When BETA needed their first large scale fabrication facility to produce the Alia, they turned to us to collaborate with their design architect, Vermont Studios (comprised of Studio III Architecture Scott + Partners Architecture), to deliver an all-electric, zero fossil fuel fabrication plant design to meet net zero energy for core-and-shell loads.

Sited adjacent to Burlington International Airport, the new manufacturing and office facility implements the latest sustainability and environmental strategies. The building emphasizes energy efficiency, minimizes environmental impact, and includes both community and green outdoor spaces to allow the public to be part of the experience. Our design features all-electric systems, high-performance envelope, a 400-foot (122-metre) deep, 260-well geothermal system tied to energy recovery ventilation, and other sustainable practices. The manufacturing spaces have a central skylight that floods the space with natural light and connects BETA¡¯s workers with views of the changing skies above.

The design reflects the surrounding community and natural environment. Phase 1 is now complete, and this facility¡ªand the products it produces¡ªhas a positive impact on both the community and as well as the environment.
