OH&S and COVID-19 Support for a Feature Film
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of occupational health and safety (OH&S) support became more prominent than ever before. When our client began preparation for a feature film, our team was there to provide support throughout preparation, principal photography, and wrap of the production.
The production consisted of over 500 crew, 25 cast, and over 300 background actors working across 8 locations over 2 years of filming. We were asked to provide a safety officer (SO) and a health and safety manager (HSM) throughout the life cycle of the production. The support our HSM included managing COVID-19 zones, coordination with cleaning and equipment vendors, ensuring the implementation of COVID-19 protocols, assisting with testing for all cast and crew, conducting contact tracing, and addressing all COVID-19 concerns in line with The Safe Way Forward and Return to Work Agreement. Our SO worked with various departments to provide health and safety support on set, on location, during tech scouts, preparation, principal photography, and wrap. We implemented methods to mitigate hazards throughout the life cycle of the production, including electrical hazards, construction hazards, emergency prep, vehicle safety, traffic and pedestrian safety, water hazards, minors, and atmospheric fog.
Production prep and filming were completed successfully, and the film was aired on a streaming service across the United States, and our SO and HSM were even listed in the credits.
