Providence Landfill Gas to Energy, DCO Energy
When the Department of Energy (DOE) supplied critical funding for its Industrial Technologies Program, the goal was to move the initiative forward and create the largest renewable generator in Rhode Island.
The Providence Landfill Gas to Energy project is one of the largest landfill gas power plants in the United States. Using state-of-the-art technology, the plant captures and conditions the landfill gas. Once conditioned, the landfill gas is distributed to the on-site power generation facility. Our team provided permitting support, detail engineering and design services, along with start-up and commissioning.
We designed a 32-megawatt combined cycle power plant that consists of four solar Taurus combustion turbine generators (CTGs) with dedicated heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). The system is also comprised of a single steam turbine generator (STG). The output? The project will produce enough energy to power 20,000 average-sized homes.
The electricity produced by the facility will be delivered to the regional grid and the surplus will be sold to national grid.?
