Torrance Memorial Medical Center

When the Torrance Memorial Medical Center¡ªa non-profit health facility in Torrance, California¡ªwas developing their new, $450-million patient tower, they required a programming design that would promote the best health for patients while optimizing efficiency for staff. The seven-story Lundquist Tower planned to feature the latest medical technologies, 256 private rooms and 18 multi-function treatment rooms¡ªand Torrance would bring us on to develop the technology programming and design.

Featuring the South Bay's first hybrid operating room, the Lundquist Tower's patient-centered design addresses the comfort of visiting family members by incorporating family-friendly lounges and overnight spaces. Expansive windows are located throughout the patient rooms to offer a bounty of natural night, while outdoor gardens provide a serene space for respite.

Our efforts contributed to electronic systems throughout the building, including the structured cable systems, electronic security systems, nurse call systems, clock systems, audio-visual systems, entertainment systems, and more. We also consulted Torrance on code requirements, ensuring compliance with the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).
