UPMC Memorial ¨C Ambulatory Care Building

Building upon UPMC Memorial¡¯s recent expansion, this new ambulatory care center is co-located with a 130-bed replacement hospital to provide a more comprehensive range of health services on the new campus.

The 140,000 square foot, five-story building serves as a platform for numerous clinical specialties, providing a more convenient patient experience and bringing more visits to the campus. At the core of the program is an emphasis on oncology and ambulatory surgery: oncology services include an infusion center with rooftop garden, radiation Oncology, and a women¡¯s center, and the ambulatory services include eight operating rooms, dedicated sterile processing, and 27 prep/recovery positions.

The building is designed to be gracious in its spatial and experiential qualities yet responsible in its use of space and application of materials. Fa?ade components create a direct correspondence to the details and general language of the hospital, while the interior finishes introduce warmth and a spirited tone that distinguish the outpatient environment from the inpatient.

Now complete, this building provides a more positive and comfortable healing process for patients through their interface with the building.
