Product Safety & Regulatory Support

Understanding product risks and responsibilities

We¡¯ve spent decades evaluating possible chemical hazards and exposures for a vast number of consumer product categories, which has helped us anticipate what regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, lawyers, and members of the public expect from producers and sellers across the entire spectrum of food and consumer products.

Our toxicologists, industrial hygienists, and epidemiologists use computational techniques to tackle the multi-layered issues that arise when humans are exposed to chemical agents, active and inactive ingredients, microorganisms, or metals from consumer products.

Our job? Product line compliance, conducting exposure assessments, and prioritizing products for analytical testing, labeling, or warning guidance. We can help you test for toxicity and evaluate the presence of contaminations.

Let us help you understand your potential product exposure and the associated risk.

Product stewardship and sustainability

We integrate the scientific approaches required to design products that consider public health, product stewardship, and environmental, social, and governance responsibilities. Product stewardship and sustainability (PS&S) practices and programs address complex issues from all along a product¡¯s value chain. Beyond regulatory compliance, a multidisciplinary approach to PS&S evaluates and minimizes negative human and environmental health and safety impacts associated with the full life of a product.

Nanotechnology

We¡¯re committed to maximizing the technological advancements and societal benefits of nano-enabled products while minimizing risk. Our health scientists assess issues related to the environmental and human health risks¡ªincluding toxicity, exposure, and risk management measures¡ªassociated with all phases of a nanomaterial¡¯s life cycle, from material development and manufacturing to end-of-life.

Medical devices

Medical devices have enhanced the lives of millions of people. While this technology can advance quality of life for patients, certain risks may necessitate careful considerations. We evaluate all sorts of medical devices¡ªfrom hip implants, pelvic mesh products, and phthalates from tubing to short term and long-term stainless steel and co-containing alloys. Our evaluations provide critical support for product development, regulatory requirements, and post-market surveillance.

Proposition 65 compliance

Our health scientists provide technical Â鶹´«Ã½ and insight to guide businesses through regulatory acts and initiatives such as Proposition 65. We design analytical testing strategies, perform exposure assessments, derive chemical safe harbor levels, and characterize potential risks for single products as well as product lines. We use the most scientifically appropriate methods for estimating exposures, such as developing chemical exposure models and executing exposure simulation studies.
