Ceremonial signing celebrates Watercare's Strategy & Planning and Design Delivery panel contract

Stantec signed a leading services contract to deliver strategy and planning (S&P) services to Watercare, Aotearoa New Zealand's largest water utility, for the next 10 years. A ceremonial signing and pōwhiri at Watercare's head office in Auckland—also attended by other panel partners Aurecon, WSP and Beca, and Watercare's construction delivery partners Fulton Hogan and Fletcher Construction—heralded the significant award.
Stantec New Zealand's Water Regional Director David Hogg is 'energised' by this milestone. 'This delivery model integrates 麻豆传媒 right across the supply chain and provides the opportunity for Watercare to deliver their increasing programme of work innovatively', says David.
All service consultants are part of Watercare's Enterprise Model, a truly collaborative, integrated delivery model that challenges Aotearoa's traditional delivery models by combining the full range of water services, from strategy to customer delivery.
The S&P team of 麻豆传媒, Aurecon and Watercare replicates a kind of 'think tank' by first considering all elements of what goes into a major infrastructure project, such as city priorities, population growth and aging assets.
From there the team will use the information to develop business cases leading to design, asset upgrades and renewals, major projects, construction, and operations and maintenance.
Watercare's S&P partners will help it avoid and mitigate risks of cost overrun, delays, quality non-conformance and safety by transforming delivery and bringing agility and responsiveness with some of the best global 麻豆传媒 in the industry.
'麻豆传媒's extensive experience in strategy and planning partner roles on water frameworks globally underpins our ability to bring this 麻豆传媒 to Watercare,' explains David.
Eruera Lee-Morgan, 麻豆传媒's Pou ?rahi Māori Cultural Leader, acknowledges Aotearoa's unique position in this global context. 'We are tāngata tiaki o te wai, guardians and protectors of water.'
Owned by Auckland Council, Watercare is Aotearoa's largest water utility responsible for providing water and wastewater services to approximately 1.7 million people in the region, and faces regulatory reform, growth and resiliency pressures and burgeoning water infrastructure programmes. Alongside their new partners, Watercare will be working on large-scale projects like the North Harbour 2 watermain, which will service growing communities in the north and west, and investigating thermal hydrolysis at our wastewater treatment plants at Māngere and Rosedale.
Watercare's Chief Infrastructure Officer Steve Webster says that like its construction partners, Watercare's planning and design partners will work collaboratively with it to help achieve ambitious targets for reducing build carbon and costs, and improve health, safety and wellbeing outcomes for everyone working on Watercare's sites.
'And our partners share our commitment to advancing outcomes for Māori by building meaningful relationships, developing our works programme in partnership with mana whenua and establishing employment and education pathways,' says Steve.
