Nick’s key role is to provide timely ecological risk management solutions and advice while maintaining compliance regarding protected habitats, species policy, and legislation. Currently, he’s focused on a local water client framework. Working as the ecology technical lead, he advises on survey programming, technical assessments, and resource allocation to deliver quality outputs on time.
Passionate about progressing innovation, Nick has delivered drone remote sensing for ecology, tree climbing for bat surveys, and developing technical guidelines with industry specialists. He has extensive experience performing ecological appraisals from preliminary assessments of small schemes to full ecological impact assessment and habitats regulations assessments on large, complex schemes. He holds Natural England class survey licenses for bats, great crested newts and dormie, and is also a competent birder and herpetologist.
Nick is located within the Brighton area but works across the United Kingdom. He performs an active role with Natural England as a volunteer bat roost visitor, assists with bat care and rehabilitation with the Sussex Bat Group, and is active within other local naturalist groups. Nick is a keen runner and cross-country mountain biker taking part in competitive events whenever time permits.
