Aurora at Finzels Reach - Engineering Services

Finzels Reach is a high-profile regeneration scheme by Cubex in the heart of Bristol city centre overlooking the Floating Harbour. We¡¯ve advised Cubex on a number of projects on the site, notably Aurora, an 8,800-square-metre (94,722-square-foot) Grade A office building.

For Aurora, we delivered the designs for building services as well as civil and structural engineering. We focused on occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and low carbon consumption. This resulted in space that is efficient, offers abundant natural daylight, and promotes health, wellbeing, and productivity among users.

While the building uses conventional heating and cooling systems, our design reduces the demand placed on them. We also worked on fa?ade optimisation and the repositioning of the building¡¯s core to increase daylight and reduce reliance on artificial lighting.

The overall building design influences user behaviour with prominent stairs to encourage walking to lower floors, storage for 112 bicycles, and rapid electric car charging points. These features and more helped Aurora earn a BREEAM Outstanding rating.
